Capacity of axially loaded RC columns with arbitrary cross sections to Eurocode 2

Abstract Unlike older design codes, Eurocode 2 does not provide a procedure for calculation of the capacity axially loaded columns. For that purpose, general algorithm is developed, using principles structural mechanics and mathematics: It starts with constructing P-Δ relationship (buckling curve) element, accounting initial imperfections, minimum eccentricity, material nonlinearity second order effects. Then, respective bending moments are determined from displacements P-M obtained. Finally, axial load in planar domain by intersecting diagram interaction curve RC section. In spacial domain, defined “buckling surface”. Its intersection surface represents (P, Mx, My) coordinate system. The as P values along curve. solution performed numerical methods.
